The spirit of the place
Beneath a huge red pig by artist Anouck Dupont which reigns over the latest of the Avant Comptoirs that opened in 2016, or on the pretty patio under the arches of the Marché Saint-Germain, everyone can enjoy themselves in a fun and festive atmosphere for a light snack, drinks with friends or a full meal. All in a welcoming environment that encourages friendly chats and removes any social barriers: « as well as eating and drinking healthily thanks to the natural wines and products served here, the Avant Comptoirs also create social connections because here, we love chatting with our neighbours at the bar; there is a feeling of closeness with no preconceived ideas ».
What do people eat and drink there?
At the Comptoir du Marché, products from the land and sea are shared equally between the 60 to 70 small plates available,
like pork with beetroot, salmon with nori and wasabi, rib of beef with a gherkin sabayon or home-made taramasalata with basil and preserved lemon. For the wines, there is no lack of choice as the huge refrigerated glass cabinets mean customers can select their favourite bottle from the thousands that are kept at the perfect serving temperature with the possibility of tasting the wine before buying it.
A genuinely modern wine bar where you can also order a glass of wine from €3.50.
